Simple Ingredients for Irresistible Flavor

Creating these delightful sweet and savory cinnamon rolls requires minimal ingredients, proving that extraordinary flavor doesn’t always need a long shopping list. Here’s what you’ll need for this quick air fryer recipe:

Uncooked bacon slices and a can of cinnamon rolls on a white wooden table.
  • Uncooked Bacon Strips: You’ll need about 8 slices for regular-sized cinnamon rolls or 10 slices if you’re using larger varieties like Pillsbury Grands Cinnamon Rolls. The key is to have enough bacon to wrap neatly inside each roll. You can opt for original or cream cheese icing, whichever you prefer!
  • Refrigerated Cinnamon Rolls: The ultimate shortcut for a quick and easy breakfast. Any brand will work perfectly.

Optional Enhancements:

For an extra touch of sweetness and visual appeal, consider sprinkling your warm cinnamon rolls with mini chocolate chips, a dusting of powdered sugar, or even a light drizzle of maple syrup for truly decadent treats. These additions can transform an already delicious snack into a gourmet delight!

How to Make Delicious Air Fryer Bacon Cinnamon Rolls

Get ready to create a memorable breakfast with these simple, step-by-step instructions. The air fryer makes this recipe not only fast but also incredibly easy, ensuring perfectly cooked bacon and golden, fluffy cinnamon rolls every time.

  1. Pre-cook the Bacon to Perfection:

Begin by placing your bacon slices in the basket of your air fryer. Arrange them in a single layer to ensure even cooking, though a slight overlap is fine. Close the basket and air fry at 380 degrees Fahrenheit (195°C) for 8-10 minutes. It’s crucial to check the bacon after 8 minutes. You want it cooked but still pliable, not overly crispy, as super-crispy bacon will break when you attempt to roll it into the cinnamon dough. Adjust cooking time by 1-2 minutes depending on your air fryer model and bacon thickness.

  2. Prepare Your Cinnamon Rolls:

While the bacon is cooking, carefully open your refrigerated cinnamon roll package. Separate the individual rolls, and don’t forget to set aside the icing packet – you’ll need it later! If you’re opting for homemade cinnamon roll dough, slice it into approximately 6 x 1-inch strips, perfect for wrapping around the bacon.

  3. Wrap the Bacon into the Rolls:

Once your bacon is cooked to that perfect flexible stage, unroll each strip of cinnamon roll dough. Lay one to two strips of cooked bacon onto each piece of dough. For larger “Grands” style rolls, two strips work wonderfully, while standard rolls might only need one. Then, carefully re-roll the cinnamon dough around the bacon, shaping it back into its original spiral. Repeat this process for all your cinnamon rolls.

  4. Air Fry the Cinnamon Rolls:

Lightly spray your air fryer basket with a nonstick cooking spray, or for easier cleanup, line it with a piece of air fryer parchment paper. Carefully place the bacon-wrapped cinnamon roll dough into the basket, ensuring you leave a little space between each roll to allow for even cooking and proper air circulation. Do not overcrowd the basket; cook in batches if necessary.

  5. Cook Until Golden Brown:

Air fry the cinnamon rolls at 360 degrees F (180°C) for 6-8 minutes. This allows the dough to cook through, become golden brown, and achieve that irresistible soft, fluffy texture. Keep an eye on them towards the end of the cooking time, as air fryers can vary. If you prefer a slightly crispier top, you can extend the cooking time by an additional minute. The cinnamon rolls should puff up and be golden all around.

  6. Glaze and Serve Immediately:

Once cooked, carefully remove the warm bacon cinnamon rolls from the air fryer basket. Immediately top them with the reserved icing packet while they are still hot; the warmth will help the icing melt and spread beautifully. Serve these delicious treats right away to enjoy them at their absolute best. For an extra flourish, sprinkle with powdered sugar or mini chocolate chips if you chose those optional toppings. Enjoy your sweet and savory breakfast masterpiece!

Air Fryer Model Notes:

I typically make this recipe in my 6.8 Quart Cosori Air Fryer. Remember that air fryer models can vary significantly in size, wattage, and heating element efficiency. It’s always a good idea to keep an eye on your food and adjust cooking times by 1-2 minutes as needed to achieve perfect results for your specific appliance.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)

Here are some common questions about making these delicious Air Fryer Bacon Cinnamon Rolls:

What type of bacon works best for this recipe?

While regular-cut bacon is typically what I use for its balance of crispiness and flexibility, you can absolutely experiment with different types. Thick-cut bacon will yield a chewier, meatier texture and might require an extra 1-2 minutes of pre-cooking. Thin-cut bacon will cook faster and be crispier, so reduce its initial cooking time slightly. The key is to get it cooked enough to be safe and flavorful but still pliable enough to roll without breaking.

Do I have to use Pillsbury Grands or larger cinnamon rolls?

Not at all! You have complete flexibility. A standard package of refrigerated cinnamon rolls works perfectly. If using smaller rolls, simply adjust the bacon quantity per roll. Instead of two strips, one strip of bacon per roll will be sufficient to achieve that wonderful sweet and savory balance without overwhelming the smaller dough.

Do I have to roll the bacon in the cinnamon roll? Are there other ways to combine them?

While rolling the bacon inside creates a fantastic hidden surprise and ensures every bite has both flavors, it’s not the only way to enjoy this combination! For a different presentation or if you’re short on time, you can chop your cooked bacon into small, crispy pieces. After air frying the cinnamon rolls and frosting them, simply sprinkle these bacon bits generously over the top before serving. This offers a textural contrast and a burst of savory flavor on the outside of the sweet roll.

Can I make these Air Fryer Bacon Cinnamon Rolls ahead of time?

These cinnamon rolls are definitely best enjoyed fresh and warm, right out of the air fryer. However, you can do some prep work in advance. You can pre-cook the bacon and store it in the refrigerator. When you’re ready to make the rolls, simply assemble and air fry. Reheating fully assembled rolls might result in less crispy bacon, but they’ll still be delicious! To reheat, place them back in the air fryer at 300°F (150°C) for 2-3 minutes until warmed through.

How do I clean my air fryer after cooking bacon?

Cooking bacon in the air fryer can generate some grease. To make cleanup easier, you can line your air fryer basket with parchment paper designed for air fryers. After cooking, let the basket cool, then wash it with warm, soapy water. For stubborn grease, a mixture of baking soda and water can work wonders. Always refer to your air fryer’s manual for specific cleaning instructions.

Equipment

  • 1 Air Fryer

Ingredients

  • 8-10
    slices
    bacon
    (depending on cinnamon roll size)

  • 1
    can
    refrigerated cinnamon rolls
    (with icing packet included)

  • Optional: Mini chocolate chips or powdered sugar

Instructions

  • Place the bacon slices in the basket of the air fryer in a single layer. (It’s ok if the bacon overlaps a little) Close the basket door and air fry at 380 degrees Fahrenheit (195°C) for 8-10 minutes. Check the bacon after 8 minutes for doneness. Don’t let it get too crispy or it will break when rolling.
  • While bacon is cooking, open cinnamon roll package, and separate dough. Reserve icing packet for later. If using homemade cinnamon roll dough, cut into 6 x 1-inch strips to use for this recipe.
  • When bacon is done, unroll each strip of dough. Place one to two strips of bacon on each piece of dough, and then re-roll the cinnamon roll into its original shape. Repeat with remaining cinnamon rolls.
  • Lightly spray the air fryer basket with nonstick cooking spray, or line with air fryer parchment paper. Place the cinnamon roll dough in the Air Fryer basket, leaving a little space in between each cinnamon roll.
  • Air fry at 360 degrees F (180°C) for 6-8 minutes to allow the cinnamon rolls to fully cook, until they are a golden brown color. If you want the tops to be a little crispier, consider adding an additional minute to the cook time.
  • Remove the cinnamon rolls from the Air Fryer and top the rolls with icing while they are still warm. Serve immediately. Top with powdered sugar or chocolate chips while warm, if using.
