INGREDIENTS FOR AIR FRYER LASAGNA
The beauty of this recipe lies in its simplicity. You only need one key ingredient to achieve a fantastic meal:

- 1 Frozen Lasagna (your preferred brand and size)
STEP-BY-STEP DIRECTIONS
Follow these simple steps to cook a perfect frozen lasagna in your air fryer, ensuring a wonderfully cheesy and fully heated meal every time.
STEP 1: Prepare the Lasagna
Carefully remove the frozen lasagna from its outer cardboard packaging. Crucially, also remove any clear plastic film or covering. This plastic is not oven or air fryer safe and must be discarded before cooking.
STEP 2: Place in Air Fryer Basket
You have two options for placing your lasagna in the air fryer. You can either leave it in its original oven-safe tray (many frozen lasagnas come in trays suitable for both conventional ovens and air fryers) or transfer the lasagna from its original tray into a separate oven-safe dish that fits comfortably inside your air fryer basket. For convenience and minimal cleanup, I typically leave it in the original tray if it’s explicitly stated as oven-safe.

STEP 3: Air Fry (Covered and Uncovered)
To prevent the cheese from browning too quickly, lightly cover the lasagna with aluminum foil. Place the covered lasagna in your air fryer basket. Set your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) and air fry for 15-20 minutes. After this initial cooking phase, carefully remove the foil. Continue air frying for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese on top is beautifully melted and golden, and the center of the lasagna is thoroughly hot and bubbly. Always use a food thermometer to ensure your lasagna reaches an internal temperature of at least 165°F (74°C) for food safety. Be extremely cautious when handling the hot air fryer basket.

STEP 4: Rest and Serve
Once your lasagna is perfectly cooked, use oven mitts or heat-resistant tongs to carefully remove it from the hot air fryer. Allow the lasagna to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving. This resting period helps the layers set and prevents the lasagna from falling apart. Serve your hot, cheesy air fryer lasagna with a classic side like garlic bread or a fresh green salad for a truly complete and satisfying meal.
DELICIOUS VARIATIONS TO ELEVATE YOUR LASAGNA
While frozen lasagna is fantastic on its own, a few simple additions can customize it to your taste and impress your family!
- Extra Cheesy Delight: For an even richer, more indulgent cheese experience, sprinkle an additional layer of shredded cheddar, mozzarella, or a gourmet Italian cheese blend over the top during the last 2 or 3 minutes of air frying. This creates an irresistible, extra-bubbly crust.
- Herb and Spice Boost: Infuse more flavor by seasoning your lasagna to your liking. A dash of dried basil, oregano, Italian seasoning, or even a pinch of red pepper flakes can significantly enhance the taste. Sprinkle these herbs on top before the final air frying stage.
- Sauce It Up: If you love a saucier lasagna, consider warming up some extra marinara or bolognese sauce on the stovetop and adding it on top of your cooked lasagna, or even between the layers, just before serving. This adds moisture and a burst of fresh flavor.
- Vegetable Power: For a hidden veggie boost, thinly slice some mushrooms, bell peppers, or spinach and add them beneath the cheese layer before the final air frying. They’ll cook beautifully and add extra nutrients and texture.
- Protein Punch: For a heartier meal, consider adding some pre-cooked ground beef, Italian sausage, or shredded chicken between the layers (if you’re transferring it to another dish) or simply on top before cooking. Ensure any added protein is already cooked through.

AIR FRYER EXPERT TIPS FOR THE BEST LASAGNA
Achieve air fryer frozen lasagna perfection every time with these valuable expert tips:
- Check Packaging for Tray Safety: Always double-check the packaging instructions of your frozen lasagna. If it explicitly states that the tray is oven-safe, then it’s generally safe for the air fryer as well. This eliminates the need to transfer the lasagna to a different dish, saving you time and cleanup.
- Prep Your Baking Dish (If Transferring): If you choose to transfer your lasagna to a separate oven-safe baking dish for air frying, lightly spray the dish with olive oil or a non-stick cooking spray first. This crucial step prevents the lasagna from sticking and makes for much easier cleanup after enjoying your meal.
- Adjust Cooking Times for Thickness/Brand: Not all frozen lasagnas are created equal. If you are cooking a thicker lasagna or using a different brand than recommended, you may need to adjust the cooking time. It’s often beneficial to add an extra 5-10 minutes to the total cooking time to ensure all layers are heated thoroughly and evenly. Always rely on a food thermometer to confirm an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- Don’t Skip the Foil: Covering the top of the lasagna with aluminum foil during the initial cooking phase is essential. This prevents the delicate cheese topping from burning or becoming too crispy before the internal layers have a chance to heat through completely. Removing it later allows for that perfect golden, bubbly finish.
- Preheat Your Air Fryer: While not always strictly necessary for all air fryer recipes, preheating your air fryer for 3-5 minutes before adding the lasagna can ensure more consistent cooking results and a better overall texture.
- Mind Your Air Fryer Model: Air fryer models vary in size, wattage, and heating element placement. The cooking times provided are general guidelines. For instance, basket-style air fryers might cook slightly differently than oven-style air fryers. You might need to adjust the cooking time by 1-2 minutes either way, especially if you’re using a specific model like my Cosori air fryer.
- Space for Airflow: Ensure there’s adequate space around your lasagna in the air fryer basket. Overcrowding can hinder proper air circulation, leading to uneven cooking. If cooking multiple small lasagnas, do them in batches if necessary.
Remember, patience and a good food thermometer are your best friends when air frying to ensure a safe and delicious outcome!

STORING AND REHEATING LEFTOVER LASAGNA
Proper storage and reheating ensure your delicious air-fried lasagna remains a treat for days to come.
To store leftover lasagna, allow it to cool completely before transferring it to an airtight container. Keep it refrigerated for up to 3-4 days for optimal freshness and safety. Avoid leaving cooked lasagna at room temperature for more than two hours.
When you’re ready to enjoy it again, reheating in the air fryer is incredibly simple and helps maintain that desirable texture. Place the leftover lasagna in an oven-safe dish that fits your air fryer basket. Air fry it at 300°F (150°C) for about 3-5 minutes, or until the center of the lasagna is heated through and bubbling. For best results, you might cover it loosely with foil for the first few minutes to prevent drying out, then uncover for the last minute or two to crisp up the cheese if desired.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT AIR FRYER FROZEN LASAGNA
Absolutely not! This is one of the best features of cooking frozen lasagna in the air fryer. It’s designed to go straight from the freezer into the air fryer, saving you significant time. If you do happen to thaw it ahead of time, simply subtract a few minutes from the recommended cooking time, but it’s generally not necessary.
A typical 19-ounce frozen lasagna usually provides about 2.5 servings. When served alongside a satisfying complement like air fryer garlic bread and a fresh side salad, it makes for a surprisingly filling and complete meal for two or three people.
Yes, this method works well with most brands of frozen lasagna, including popular ones like Stouffer’s. Just be sure to follow the general guidance on removing plastic packaging and checking the internal temperature for doneness. Thicker or larger lasagnas may require slightly longer cooking times, so adjust accordingly.
If you have a smaller air fryer, you might need to opt for single-serve frozen lasagna portions or ensure that a larger lasagna fits without touching the heating element. You may also need to cook in batches if preparing multiple servings. Always ensure adequate airflow around the food for best results.
While the core ingredients of the lasagna remain the same, air frying generally uses less oil (or no oil for frozen items like this) and cooks food quickly and efficiently. This can make it a good option for reducing cooking fat if you typically add oil when baking. The primary benefit here is convenience and superior texture rather than a significant health difference for pre-made frozen meals.

- 1 Frozen Lasagna, 19 ounce size
Instructions
-
Remove the frozen lasagna from its box packaging and remove the clear plastic covering.

You can place lasagna in air fryer basket either in it’s original tray, or transfer the lasagna from the tray and place it in an oven-safe dish that fits inside your air fryer. (I left it in the original tray)
-
Cover the lasagna with aluminum foil, then air fry Stouffers lasagna at 350 degrees F for 15-20 minutes. Remove foil, and continue air frying for an additional 10-15 minutes, until cheese is melted on top and the center of lasagna is hot. (Be careful when removing from hot air fryer basket) Use a food thermometer to ensure the lasagna cooks and has an internal temperature of at least 165°F
-
Once the lasagna is cooked, carefully remove it from the air fryer using oven mitts or tongs. Let lasagna cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve with garlic bread or a side of vegetables for a complete meal.
Notes
If you do prefer transferring the lasagna to a baking dish, lightly spray it with olive oil or cooking spray first, so lasagna won’t stick, and this will help with clean up.
If you’re working with a thicker lasagna or different brand of frozen lasagna, you may need to adjust the cooking time. Add an extra 5-10 minutes to ensure that all the layers are heated thoroughly.
Covering the top of the lasagna with foil prevents the cheese from burning, so don’t skip this step.
